So did Atheism + bite the dust?
RE: So did Atheism + bite the dust?
I try to refrain from calling people names. Especially bitch, I really dislike that one. I would call them both bossy and if they were really awful...douchebag is my choice of words. Applied equally regardless of sex.

My point was, you cannot just assume someone is a misogynist just because they call a woman a name. You can't go around shouting "misogynist!" at every person who disagrees with you. People who do this hurt their own cause. They make feminism a joke.

You misinterpreted me, I'm not saying bossy needs to be misogynistic, I am saying that it is used in a context of double standards. I didn't say it was always used with a sexist intent. Sorry Wink

I only call people sexist when they act/do something sexist (unless it is in a context of jokes)

If calling a woman a bitch is mysoginistic, then calling a man a dick is misandrist.

It is. Though I wouldn't call a woman a hoe, there are definitely those who deserve the label bitch.

Then what is calling a woman a dick? Confused?

I'm glad that Atheism Plus bit the dust. Everything they stood for spit in the face of rational and critical thought --- we had great thinkers such as Christopher Hitchens, who valued free speech and critical thinking and Atheism + went against everything he stood for; instead opting for political correctness. It was their own tyranny which led to their downfall.

I can understand why some organizations, groups and institutions may restrict free speech, specially when it becomes hate speech. I sometimes post at a forum for discussion of politics and while expressing fascist ideologies is 100% allowed it's forbidden and grants you a ban to promote supremacism based on race (neo-nazism, etc.) - Basically, saying "Let's preserve our ethnicity" is ok, but saying "Niggers are inferior let's kick them out" is not.

I must condone groups that censor free speech - Silencing dissent is not going to work out for you. Whenever I met a group or institution that silences everyone who doesn't agree I usually assume there's something wrong with them. Having diverse opinions and points of view on the grounds of civility and rational debate is good for any group, I don't see why someone would not allow it - Even in a context of social justice where many people's sensitivity may be at stake, allowing others to express opposite views is recommended. You have a much greater chance of convincing someone that you're right if you avoid censoring them and personal insults.
