Now you have these southern states digging their heels in, changing the war cry from "sanctity of marriage!" to "judicial overreach!" Popular vote on discriminated minority rights is a bad idea, always. Desegregation would have never happened, interracial marriage would have never happened, equal pay for women will never happen, marriage equality will never happen without judicial intervention.
This is just another example to add to an already unending list of how religion fucks everything up.
