Well, fuck...may as well just kill ourselves!

RE: Well, fuck...may as well just kill ourselves!
All I know regardless of whether I become just another husk in 100 years or live on till the end of mankind, is that I will just enjoy the ride. It doesn't need to be heaven or eternal peace, I would just enjoy more time, it isn't mindguided hope for eternity by the promise of false gods, just the understanding that life is enjoyable and maybe unexpectedly short. Car accidents, tsunamis, earthquakes, asteroids, etc. Something may eventually kill me right now or some time later, but at least I try to cherish the moments I do have.

Oh well, fuck that then.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

More time is the last thing I want. That's why I don't mind shaving a few years off my lifespan with some good times.

Just... imagine that your conscious is immortal but your memories of your past life is kinda wiped away because you need a brain to have memories.
But after awhile wouldn't that be even kind of troubling to anyone at all? Because you can go from a human to any other thing even to something non terrestrial.

Eventually, we'll be able to tweak our little heads to exactly what we want them to be, living so long as the digital storage will allow us to.

That day isn't today... but were I able to at this moment: would I change anything about myself, or choose to live forever?

...

No. Probably sounds pretty stupid from the outside looking in... but I like who I am; the psychotic bits, and the stupid bits too.

I don't wish to choose my death... I want my death to choose me. I'm curious, see... and it makes for a much better story.

Put me in the "live as long as possible" camp. I'm greedy and selfish; I like being me. I like being aware (or humorously and blissfully unaware) of myself. And, yeah, it does freak me out that at some unknown point in the future, my self-awareness will be gone. I accept that it will happen, but I'm not exactly happy about it.

Like someone else said, 100 years is too short. I want to personally visit other worlds.

Wait till you find out about aching knees, back pain, arthritis, short-term memory loss, and presbyopia. And those aren't even the ones that can kill you.

I've been physically disabled since birth. My body has never worked right to begin with. I deal with pressure sores daily. I'm also diabetic (thanks family history, where just about everyone gets it at 30 regardless of diet). I'd still rather live than not.

Not immortality. But a good 500-1000 years would be good.

Besides, the longer I live, the more likely science will alleviate a lot of the ailments we get as we age, in addition to increasing our life expectancy.

Check with me in 25 years.

Oh, wait. I'll be 90 if I make it. I won't remember you.

Probably won't remember anything.
