Hey there. I decided to become atheist after several revelations, including my general skepticism, and the fact that over the last few years I've developed a greater understanding overall. Most definitely, I would see myself as more or less a strong atheist: I don't believe that there's likely to be anything out there, and I'm not inclined to bother worshiping anything if it ever came to light that there was.

Care to share?

Like you, I am also a natural sceptic and that is how I converted to atheism, even though I was raised a strong xtian.

Worshipping a God is demeaning and I can't see how any deity would ever be so vain as to command such a thing from his/her followers. It just doesn't make sense huh?

Where I AM stumped though is when it comes to that something "bigger"... I just can't imagine that the whole universe came from nothing. That it just all happened "to be" there right from the start. I can still phantom that we were formed in the chemical soup after the big bang and evolved through the ages but what I can't get my head around is where everything before that came from and how it all happened. I don't believe that a personal god created it all (xtian god) but I'm open to believe that there could be something greater than us out there.

True. Why would a deity even need anything from us - wouldn't we be already part of it somehow? It seems thoroughly full of it, to add in worship.

It was mainly that I started getting more interested in science, and after reading through a few quotes from the Bible, it all came across as a load of random crap.

No, that was another small revelation.

When it comes to something "bigger" out there, I think that we don't know enough to even fathom why the big bang occured, therefore we should wait until we do know more, and instead stop trying to make up theories about a God we know nothing about.

You mean hold off judgement until you have more information? How dare you! No one should have to think rationally Big Grin
