Yes I agree the indoctrination is very hard to break, mine went something like this: Catholic, Deist, Pararormal/Woo, Lost, Atheist.

I think if you are really interested, you would be seeking to find God by coming to understand what He requires of you.

You are advising someone who doesn't have faith to have faith. How, exactly, should he go about that task?

All a believer can do is provide information. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that converts, and this will never happen unless you are humble enough to be open to it and in tune with it. These things are a matter of choice.

What information can you provide?

Remember, you've claimed you can provide information. Do not supply opinion and dress it up as fact. Provide information -- i.e., facts.

As for the "power of the holy spirit", it cannot even command me to capitalize its pronoun.

I just wanted to reiterate that the mistake you are making is expecting someone or God to come to you. It is you who has to approach God on His terms, in prayer and in the name of Jesus Christ and through sincere scripture study... not to find fault, but to understand.

Well, your god must not really care for people, then. See, I have a son. And when my son is about to err, I do what I can to prevent that, before he errs, even if it means that I must (gasp!) present myself in his life and give him a positive example.

Now, you think that your godling is perfect, yet he cannot even do what I, a mere mortal, does. He cannot become present to give the right example for behavior he wishes to see.

I came here out of curiosity. I had been a member of religionforum.org, but I was banned by an atheist moderator and I can't go back until two years from now. The thread topic for which I was banned was a question. "Is it wrong to be gay?" Apparently, Only responses in favor of homosexuality were allowed. I expressed my opinion that it was wrong and gave some reasons. For doing that, I was banned as a bigot.

I think I'll quit these forums and go do some genealogy. We do not even speak the same language, so there can be no meaningful communication.

I hope you'll reconsider leaving, as you are in desperate need of some rational discourse.

You are 100% right that the bible condemns homosexuality. The problem is that you believe that a magic god is behind the bible picking and choosing which prayerful plea to grant all the while staying completely invisible, even statistically. The bible is just a incoherent collection of ramblings crude men have used to extort sustenance from the gullible. The mormon books are no different, just newer.

If you are A BELIEVER, why can't you have a conversation with jesus or the angels just like joe??? Do they not have enough time for you? Are they busy?
Why does god only talk telepathically to living christians and yet speaks normally to joe and the dead prophets???
