Intro from a christian

RE: Intro from a christian
Science has not, however, attempted to prove there is not a soul. Which is the usual "argument" presented for the existence of a soul. And it's a worthless one.

Science does not do stuff like that. It has bigger fish to squint at.

We're supposed to be nice in the into, but since you started off as a complete sanctimonious, self-righteous, egomaniacal prig, fuck you.

Enjoy your stay.

Well that's the biggest train wreck of an intro in my short time here. Good luck on the forum, Wiggy. You'll need it.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Ok, time out, people. We're not going to have rule violations on my watch, okay?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Welcome to the forums. I suspect your time here will foster much joy and bemusement.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I'm always around, watching from the shadows.

See, first line and I already like you.
Quote:My name is wiggy and the reason why I am here is to see how atheists think.
You've come to the right place then. Lot's of atheists, and sometimes they think. And sometimes even talk about it!
Quote: I have debated many atheists and I am curious as to how they can be certain there is no God.
Most probably aren't 100% certain, although it really depends on the concrete definiton of God in question to say anything specific!
Quote:After all bible says God hides his face from the wicked and gives them over to a depraved mind. A fool says there is no God.
But then, a fake holy book would say exactly that - just like cult leaders warning members that their families will try to talk them out of the cult because the family are evil, or oppressive (scientology speak) etc.
Quote:I dont think I could ever be converted to atheism thats because I think I have all the answers to all of the difficult questions like hell and suffering and many false Gods.
If you think you have answers to all the difficult questions, that should tell you there's something fishy going on. There's a reason why they are called difficult questions.
Quote: My belief is based on evidence of what I see and feel and experience. God to me is a graceous character full of love and hope for humanity. We are a vapour but God is eternal. I dont know why so many hate God when the gospel is about love.
Have you looked at His creation? It's pretty horrible in parts.
Quote:There is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend and that is what Jesus did for us.
I didn't ask him to do that. I'd rather have had him frolick around Palestine with his fans for 40 more years preaching love and peace and crashing weddings turning water to wine and then die of old age.
Quote:I hope that I am wrong but Christianity makes too much sense to me. I dont want anyone to go to hell but hell is what it is and is reservered for the God hater. Deny the creator and lose your soul. Science even proves we have a soul.
No, science doesn't prove that Big Grin

Long story short, welcome to the forums!
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

We probably made him mad with our "silly rules" about necroposting.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
