The difference is that anyone with half a brain knows that Bill O'Reilly's entire shtick is exaggerating facts and telling half-truths. This is his brand of "social commentary."

Brian Williams presents himself as a straight down-the-line news broadcaster, so when elaborate fabrications are exposed, his brand is tarnished in a way O'Reilly's never could be.

Because Fox News is all about profit and selling their view of Republicanism, there will be no repercussions for Bill. He will continue to be popular with Fox News viewers and no one at that channel will suggest that he is sanctioned in any way.

O'Reilly's previous job was on Inside Edition. Whatever integrity he may have had was jettisoned long ago. He's a performer now.
