I agree with Chas - Additionally hunting can be much more humane than factory food farming and the meat industry.
I have a friend who hunts regularly, and he abides by the principle that the prey must suffer as little as possible.
That being said, I agree that hunting as a hobby should be limited according to legal possibilities. We should preserve species.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

I didn't realize you Limeys were so hard up you'd resorted to eating fox ... that's some skimpy eats, there.
Seriously, I don't mind hunters who eat their prey, be those hunters cougars, barracuda, or humans. Shooting animals for pleasure is simply depraved, to my mind.

If you eat meat, your hands are as bloody as those of hunters. I can respect a guy who goes out and hunts for his food, so long as he's thoughtful -- i.e., not tormenting his prey -- when he does so.
As for aspersing the courage of hunters, that looks like a cheap route to a compensation joke. Do you know many hunters?

Terrorizing the animal is fucked up. The only hunting I approve of is to feed yourself and family. In that case a swift clean kill is in order.

You see , THIS to me is what makes this forum tedious ! Your point goes without saying , but nothing here EVER goes without saying.
We/I was speaking of sport/trophy hunting. I love a good cheeseburger, but in todays society it is not necessary for me to sneak up on a cow with a sledge hammer and smear his blood on my cheeks and do a native American dance of appreciation to his spirit !
and moreover, can anyone share THEIR opinion about the last guy's opinion without throwing in at least a tiny dig or insult , even as tiny as calling them "biased" or "unrealistic" ?? I don't have to Kill with my own hands to eat in the 21st century ... that is my "unbiased reality" ... if its not yours ... sorry offended your sensibilities
