They are trying to paint a picture of atheists being equal to communism. Then based on what Stalin, Pol Pot and other mean dictators have done, prove that atheists are militant and evil.
I don't think atheist ideologist actually is a term. Atheism is purely the rejection of one or more religions based on the lack of valid evidence. It is pretty individual, but they are often united by their faith in reason. And while Stalin, Pol Pot and many other really mean dictators have done some horrible things, I don't think you can blame it on atheism. They are far more known as communists then anything else. Not that I blame communism either. And an atheist can just as well be a communist as he can be a capitalist. So could a catholic. The reason that religions gets the spotlight when we come to war-crimes is what certain fanatics, religious leaders and religious states have done in the name of the religion. And while you cannot blame the religions for what certain individuals have done, you can blame religious denominations for having a supportive attitude towards or not condemning those people and actions
