Georg Buchner died before he could even finish The original, play; at the very least, Berg did his best to give it an ending.
Also, Fyi, I added an explanation to put my "more music for the dollar" thing into context to my previous post.

There's something to be said for working outside of the musical language that's practically drilled into our brains. 4'33 is a bit odd, but he's got a lot of good stuff if you forget about all of your preconceptions about music.
I won't argue about Zappa because I'm more into his, like, avant guarde jazz/rock stuff like Hots Rats, sooo...
Anyway, this is from a person who likes noise (Jesus Lizard, Lighting Bolt), drone (Sunn o))), Eliane Randigue) and free jazz (Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane), so we might not agree on everything.

I have that one Ornette Coleman double quartet improvisation on vinyl. Whenever I think the two halves of my brain need resetting, that would be the piece of choice for sure. Otherwise the noisiest thing I listen to on a regular basis is something like this (note the string quintet in the middle)
I remember covering some piece of Cage's for prepared piano in school. I thought that was fun. Our teacher let us drop school books into the grand

It's just many things I like are pretty fast takes on things
Or does the time refer to the total time of the disk, on which also other stuff might be included?

Music for buck... hehe
Here's Ravel's Bolero, as it's usually played (or, as it was on the CD I had at home and heard to countless times, which makes it the official version in my mind ):
And now.... the more music per buck version:

on the disc. That said, I usually try to keep the mix of pieces on each disc simple.
Of course, I should note that using the star ratings as a multiplication factor usually means that, even if a recording that isn't the greatest gets the highest scores, it'll more likely be a fairly good recording and not just some outright wretched one that just plods its way through a piece. If that happens, I just treat it as an outlier and take it off the list.
The simple "more music for the buck" does make me seem like a skinflint, but always keeping the acclaim in mind makes sure I stay an enlightened one.
That said, my preferred version of Bolero is Boulez's version:

A little more Mozart opera to close out the night.
The Queen of the Night's Aria from Die Zauberflote
and Osmin's aria from the end of The Abduction From the Seraglio

I think we haven't had any Mendelssohn Bartholdy yet, which is an unforgivable omission
