It is a marketing snafu.

Priest there forgot to put up the "Free Showers" sign.

See, it's a 'feature' now.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

When has the church, as a political entity, ever been about charity? The Pope always talks a good game, and makes planned visits to poor regions, but does absolutely fuck all when it comes to actually trying to help the people there.

This cannot be real. I'm sorry: why do people still support the Catholic church?

Fear. Instilled fear and guilt.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Unfortunately, it's very real. According to the article, the poor, poor, cathy-lick church can't afford to pay a few buck to hired security to keep the areas clear humanely, but they can build great whacking expensive cathedrals all over the world. Hell, if they cut the cathedral budget in half... But, they won't.

Poverity is a by product of the distribution of wealth. You can't have the rich (Meaning wester culture aka you) without someone taking one for the team/Poor people. So long as we live in our current way of life we will always have the poor. Children or rather an over abundance of them is a symptom not a cause.

I believe he's saying: less children = less poverty.
Remember people, everything you say can and will be misquoted than held against you.

This ban on birth control is indeed archaic and needs to be lifted.

Which would make children a cause of poverty. Again I can list at least 6 different regions that Christiaity does not have a hold nor is birth control an issue, yet poverty abounds... Why? There is no one cause, but social and ecconomic factors play a much larger role in the prosperity of a people than the number of children they may or may not have.

Which means an over abundance of children can be an effect of prolong poverty, and not a cause.

Remember people use your heads, if you try and wind up back where you started, then Try google. Don't just swallow anti church propaganda just because the church needs to make a change, and hasn't.

Interviewing the local Archbishop, he says:

You need to find a natural way of not having loads of babies e.g. abstinence. So have sex with your wife twice in your life, and that's fine?

Any government that offers free contraception to the poor is a "dictatorship".

This isn't the first time the Catholic Church's views on contraception resulted in large numbers of unnecessary deaths.

Why do they support any church? A protestant megachurch doesn't come that much cheaper.

Reminds me of Father Ted accusing Pat Mustard of fathering children around Craggy island:

Pat Mustard: I think you would need proof if you were going to make that sort of accusation and I’m a very careful man Father. A very careful man!
Ted: Except when it come to taking precautions in the bedroom!
Pat Mustard: You wouldn’t be advising the use of artificial contraception now would you Father?
Ted: Yes I… No I… If you’re going to be.. I.. I.. of course you.. Just Feck Off!!
