Listened to the first two "Temeraire" at work this week. Needed a break from that so I started the latest "John Corey" novel by Nelson DeMille. Very good so far. CM, Corey is still the cranky, crotchety, snarky guy we've all come to know and love.

Good.  If he were any other way I wouldn't even bother reading it.

Damn it, why do I have to many other books to get through before I get to Radiant Angel?!?!?

I'm reading a big ole book about the ancient history of George Martin's world of fire and ice. Have read up on the very early history of Westerns and most of the Targaryian kings. No hurry. I keep it in the car so whenever I take the missus to an appointment I can pick off another ruler or two.

I'm now reading Bart Ehrman's "Lost Christianities", as advised by Minimalist, on some thread some time ago.
It's quite curious how many texts from the 2nd ~4th centuries exist concerning a fellow called Jesus, who had a few disciples and said a bunch of stuff...
It's frustrating how many of those texts never made it to our days.
It's interesting to note how much of what was written as coming from Jesus himself was... made up. It does lead one to wonder how much of the canonical texts was made up.
I just read this morning a part about the allegedly first written canonical gospels mention nothing about the death and resurrection of this very important figure... and this figure's most important accomplishment... It took Paul's contemporaries to write about that... odd that.

Just finished the trilogy (Don't worry, I don't post spoilers) but how they're being controlled/manipulated to fulfill the plan is adequately explained in book three (IMO). I enjoyed the books but saw the 'revelation' at the end coming a mile off.

Yeah you will. I still loved those books, foundations edge is good to.

I enjoyed Lost Christianities a lot. Probably more than some of Ehrmans other books.

Well even Carrier goes in depth into each alleged piece of evidence to explain why it is not.  Xtians hate to hear that.
