Sure, but let's not forget the framing of this question, which is within a movie that attempts to show a broken and bitter man that is really just angry at god for letting his mother die as the typical atheist.
Existential questions are all well and good, but when they're used in such a dishonest and deceitful manner, they become propaganda tools.

I hope that some day the Evangelical community will make a film about their faith that is one-tenth as good as something by Pasolini. Barring that, I hope they just stop making films entirely.

I certainly am  in fact, I have no qualms about stripping away that last bit and simply saying that I have zero hope.
I don't know if it's just that my brain works differently or I have no normal human emotions but I am perfectly content living my life with no hope that it will have any more impact other than the one on the floor when I inevitably collapse from heart failure.
Just existing as a brief spark in the longevity of the universal fire is enough for me.

I actually thought that was a good point as well. But the question, I realized, was faulty in and of itself.
Hope of what? I feel hope is merely a tool people have come to use as a crutch. It's useful to have hope that, say, your idea will come to fruition thus giving you the motivation to pursue it, but it is not useful to me personally to think I will live forever because it gives me reason to slack off until I die which will end up in me accomplishing nothing.
Therefore, my answer is really that I have no hope except for the continued advancement of human society which is only grounded in the inherent curiosity of man.
You know what? I'd say you're well on the way to becoming wise in your own way

That God's Not Dead trailer is just embarrassing. The movie could have been on any subject and that trailer would have repulsed me. Extremely transparent. Although, they were able to pack a lot of dishonesty into a short time, so good job.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

Some people often mix up hope and wishful thinking. It would be great if there really was a great God who has everything in hand, and heaven will be wonderful, blah blah blah. If it actually was as good as the game they talk, it would be good. But just wanting to believe in it doesn't make it true. And as you're no doubt aware, this view clashes rather drastically with reality. The universe is a much better fit for no God, or a god no longer interested, than an interacting loving God. That last is absolutely absurd in fact.
It sounds like you're getting there You're being very brave tackling it head on, and I predict it will only get easier. We're always here to back you up. Theist arguments are bogus, full stop. There is always dishonesty in there somewhere, it's just about spotting it. Their most powerful tool is emotional manipulation, which they often resort to pretty quickly when you rebut their wafer thin fallacy ridden arguments.
Again, it's worthless, appealing to emotion. How you feel about reality has no impact on reality. Accepting things as they are is one of the most important aspects of life.
