Okay, you've got it worse than me. Yours is creepy-stalker-level, mine is 12-year-old-boy-who-won't-take-the-hint-level.

You must be thinking of AOL.
I see you are a true veteran of the web, dating back to the mid 1990s. Yes, I remember AO Hell in its heyday and all the worthless CDs pasted to the back cover of magazines. I guess there is some parallel to Facebook. The difference is that most people who ventured online in those days recognized AOL for what it was. Today, people go online for no other reason than to access fluff like Facebook and Twitter - and they outnumber those of us who recognize that the internet and the web is so much more. The old AOL was a joke. Most of today's internet denizens don't recognize that the likes of Facebook and Twitter are a much worse joke.

I see you've found a way to feel superior to everyone without any data to back yourself up. Congratulations.

Superior to everyone else? Hardly. I recognize my limitations and that I'm hardly a clone of Einstein or Newton. I also recognize that Facebook and Twitter are optimized for discussing Kim Kardashian's latest hair style. That's fine if that's what you're in to. If you want to discuss something more serious however, there are more appropriate venues.

Great - I'll let all my friends know that the next time we wish to discuss gay rights activism or the latest scientific study that we're totally doing it the wrong way.
If all you see on FB is Kardashian news, you're using it incorrectly.

I only had to unfriend one person. I must be the most boring person on Facebook.

No, I recognize that it's not the appropriate venue for discussing anything of more substance. You COULD do it there but it's not where you're likely to get the best response. You wouldn't watch a soap opera to get good drama. Similarly, you shouldn't go to Facebook to get intellectual discussion.

Bullshit. I get plenty of it, because I have intelligent friends, and I get rid of the soap opera ones.
You get out of the system what you put into it. Shit in, shit out. Don't like the sort of give-and-take you get on there? Find better friends or groups to join.

There's no bullshit. Facebook is 95% crap. Sure, you can weed out the 95% with filters but you would be better off going to a venue where intelligent discussion is the order of the day. That's why you're here. You wouldn't be here if you could get what you want from McInternet.
