It's weird how the original was absolute golden, but none of the sequels or even the eventual 3D versions of it were anywhere near as good.

I still often lose a life first time round to that stupid Mandara git. For some reason his spinners are easier to kill on the subsequent tries. The last boss... is a bastard, I can usually sort him but occasionally he pulls some shenanigans with his final form.
You seem just slightly obsessed Rob, almost like Shinobi is a religion for you.

Next time I get my arcade sticks out, which may well be this afternoon, I promise to give Shinobi another blast and report back. From what I recall though, like most of the arcade original versions, it was hard as nails and requires quite a few hours dedication.

Lol yeah Big Grin When I was a kid it was pretty much my religion Wink

It is a tough game for sure, very unforgiving. One tap and you're dead! But it is generally fair, not cheap.

It's also a demonstration of how the most successful ninjas walk in plain site, in daylight, with no mask on.

Any DragonBallZ fans? DBZ didn't become popular in the states until well after the 8 and 16-bit era, so emulating was (is?) the only way to play DBZ titles like Hyper Dimension; which is an excellent game. The pixel art is on par with Street Fighter and the fighting system is responsive and surprisingly deep.

Discovering emulators in my late teens/early twenties was like getting locked in Toys 'R' Us after hours. Couldn't believe it. Gave me a chance to replay Streets Of Rage, TMNT, and a few Hockey titles that were somehow extremely fun on the old systems. Never liked Hockey all that much, but the games were just a touch more playable than other sports titles.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Ooh street fighter 2, how could I forget... if shinobi was a religion, SF2 was the blood cult to end all cults!

I loved that game! I found a game like it called Gate that is more updated. I wasn't very good at the game, but monkeying with logic gates and getting the robots to do things was fun.
