In France it wasn't only against the rich but against the nobility and legal privileges because of social class (Clergy, nobility, royalty, absolutism, etc.). We should be careful of what we do or else something like 1917 Russia happens.

Simple evolution is what is going on. You prevent too much of a population from having what they need, you might get away with it for a while, but over extend yourself it will break eventually and that society will go after the top. This behavior is also in other primates. An alpha male chimp, can dominate the females but eventually he gets old and the younger ones eventually compete to get that power. Why humans think they are different is stupid. It isn't that you are justifying a revolution, it is just a simple recognition that you cant expect not to have a rise up if far too many people cant survive. Again I still favor open systems and pluralism because they reflect more of our evolutionary diversity, but even western societies are still run by power and our species still has those in it who can ignorantly or willfully corrupt and game that system as well. You don't simply knock a power out and replace it because in doing that you create a vacuum which while unified at first to topple the power will far too often fracture, once the power is toppled, the factions will compete to fill that gap. I really don't like that bullshit equating the left saying "the pay gap is hurting us" means we hate all wealth or secretly want to be wealthy ourselves. Sure you can find some Che supporters, but most in the west on the left only want to have livable wages. No one should hate those wanting more. On can only argue that the Democratic politicians compromise too much and that our voter apathy has allowed that. But the ideas of equal pay, and women having control over their own bodies, affordable health care, cheaper or free higher education, social equality, are the right ideas. Now if you want to blame anything for the parties seeming the same, blame our growing plutocracy. Blame big money in politics. Not the ideas of one party. Democrats have the right ideas, I can only say our politicians tactics suck right now and it does not help having the other side blackmail all of us and have our side cave in every time they do. |
