Freaky Physics Proves Parallel Universes Exist
I am currently studying Quantum Mechanics as part of my Physics A-level, I have come to 'understand' as best I can the nature of sub-atomic particles but I did not necessarily agree with the concept when I first started the Module. Eventually I started to see how it works more clearly and something in my head 'clicked', I am now a true advocate of Quantum Theory.

Quote:The strange discovery by quantum physicists at the University of California Santa Barbara means that an object you can see in front of you may exist simultaneously in a parallel universe -- a multi-state condition that has scientists theorizing that traveling through time may be much more than just the plaything of science fiction writers.

Electrons, which circle the nucleus of an atom, are swirling around in multiple states at the same time -- they're hard to pin down. It's only when we measure the position of an electron that we force it to have a specific location. Cleland's breakthrough lies in taking that hard-to-grasp yet true fact about the atomic particle and applying it to something visible with the naked eye.

What do you think about this?

To me it's all mumbo-jumbo. I have no idea how Quantum Mechanics work and I'm not even trying. Sorry.

I don't blame you, I have to learn it so understanding would help me.

Quantum mechanics does not "prove" the existence of parallel universes.

It merely suggests that they are possible.

The quantum world is fascinating.

The simplest way I can conceive of explaining what little I know about it is that at a certain scale the rules of physics completley change.

Nano particles make the same phenomenon, that a nano particle of some substance will have absolutely different characteristics than a non-nano particle. I think Aluminum is highly explosive on a nano scale, as an example.

The world, and the systems that make reality keep ending up far more complex and beatific than ever imagined. Until such time as we can disprove it, it may very well be turtles all the way down. Weird reference, forgive me if I made no sense.

I just took the title of the article, sorry

I have understood the theories for a while, and they are very interesting, and usefull. Just imagine what this universe would be like if things like the Planck constant, or the ħ particle were different?
Now, if only we could produce a quantum computer.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

The trouble with QM's multiple universe theory is that it requires a new universe for every possible result of any action.

For every millisecond of every day.

So if you throw a dice six entire new universes have to spring into existence to permit the six possible outcomes.

And then you have to allow for all the possible trajectories before it comes to rest and all the possible places it could come to rest in.

THEN you take a bucket full of die and perform the same experiment............

So when you make the logical extrapolation it means that every nanosecond uncountable infinities of universes are being created and

in turn creating even more infinitudes of universes to cater for all the possibilities of those universes.

Hmmmmm...........

"So if you throw a dice six entire new universes have to spring into existence to permit the six possible outcomes."

What about the universe where the die falls on the floor and you lose it? Or it disappears. Or a comet hits your house and squishes yourself and said die. Don't neglect the parallel universe where humans never invented dice, and the one where the dinosaurs became the sentient race...

That's what this line is about,

"And then you have to allow for all the possible trajectories before it comes to rest and all the possible places it could come to rest in."

And that is my point, if you think of ALL the things that occur in the universe in one second, plus all

of their alternative outcomes.

Then an almost infinite number will have to be created to cover those outcomes,

then those infinite number of universes will each need thier own infinity of universes for their outcomes.

Every second, for billions of years.
