You people deserve no deference, and religion should be mocked for its affront to rationality and intellectualism at every opportunity. Heh...after you eliminate all the Christians, you will have to deal with the Muslims.

And dude, they do NOT turn the other cheek. Good luck with that.

Hey did you know, some scholars think St. Augustine was gay:

"Some scholars believe that St. Augustine was gay. This assertion is based in part on a passage from Confessions about a man he knew as youth. "I felt that his soul and mine were 'one soul in two bodies' and therefore life without him was horrible. I hated to live as half of a life." After the man's death Augustine said he contemplated suicide but “I feared to die, lest he should die wholly whom I had loved so greatly.""

My apologies. I forgot to logoff before going to work; I haven't actually been online all day.

What was your question?

With all of history behind us, and all that is to come ahead, how do you feel knowing your faith is but one of thousands of religions that have arisen, and will eventually decline and fade into nothingness? How do you still believe in a system that will inevitably be lost to time in the centuries to come, becoming nothing more than a footnote in historical academia?

TL;DR - your religion will one day be lost to time and is in the grand scheme of things, utterly irrelevant. How do you reconcile with that?

I'd appreciate an answer that actually addresses the question, rather than your "Double dumbass on YOU"-esque attempt earlier.

So, if Catholics crusade against the Muslims, that's just another example of what's wrong with Christianity (or all religion), but if atheists go to war with muslims, that's okay?

Well, since you will never achieve the end you desire on the strength of your arguments, might as well try to win by force.

Go for it.

I gave a scripture-based answer to a direct question. Since this is the Christianity sub-forum, I think I really ought to be allowed to explain my faith using my scriptures. The question and answer related to the Christian worldview.

Now, if you would rather just ban me rather than see the word of God posted in your forum, knock yourself out.

But your heavy-handedness in this regard gives the appearance that you are afraid of being confronted by the truth of God's Word. If God does not exist, then meaningless Bible verses shouldn't trouble you in the least. But they do, don't they?

And be honest, if I were an atheist, you wouldn't give a damn what I posted as long as it fit your personal belief system.

So, either I defend my faith my way, or you can ban me and go back to telling yourselves that you really showed another Christian what for.

I'm happy either way.

Oh, you poor, persecuted little special snowflake.  What troubles me is not Bible verses (hahahaha!), rather your breaking of the rules we've had in place for years.  I'm a moderator; it's my job to make sure people are following the rules.  My personal feeling that you're an annoying mosquito who makes my job more difficult has nothing to do with it.  What are you doing on a discussion forum if you can't discuss things in your own words?  Nah- don't answer that; it really doesn't matter anymore.

Your questions are based upon some assumptions that I do not accept nor do I believe them to be within the realm of possibility. Consequently, I do not think about these things at all.

Jesus said:

Matthew 16
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it[/b].

Matthew 28
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age[/b].”

The Catholic Church will not fail before the return of Jesus, and I'm not convinced that will be much longer...perhaps not in my lifetime, but sooner rather than later.

A scripture based argument would have been fine: just plain scripture is not. Surely you can see why, in a discussion forum, for people to discuss things, in discussions, we might want to discourage people from just posting copy/paste walls of text from elsewhere?

Quote:Now, if you would rather just ban me rather than see the word of God posted in your forum, knock yourself out.

That's not it, and you know it: it's easy to see a large number of posts with quotations from scripture here that go by without incident, even ones that you yourself have posted, because they contain within them original argumentation, not exclusively scripture. This attempt to poison the well by making our actions here about persecuting your religious views rather than your unwillingness to post original content is not only profoundly dishonest, it's also trivially easy to disprove. We have a new user here called freedom4me, he has a thread of his own here, and a number of his posts have contained bible verses about as long as the one you posted, but he has not had any trouble from our team at all.

Why? Because he also includes his own thoughts in those posts too. Therefore, this claim of yours that we're doing this because we just hate the bible is falsified. I'd like a retraction, if you're capable of being that honest: here's a nice long bible quote from the young man for you to peruse, if you insist on this ridiculous notion that we're just doing this because we hate god's word.

Quote:But your heavy-handedness in this regard gives the appearance that you are afraid of being confronted by the truth of God's Word. If God does not exist, then meaningless Bible verses shouldn't trouble you in the least. But they do, don't they?

What troubles me is you coming to this discussion forum and not discussing things, and then playing the persecution card like a whiny, passive aggressive child when you're called on it. You breaking the rules does not mean we hate your god.

Quote:And be honest, if I were an atheist, you wouldn't give a damn what I posted as long as it fit your personal belief system.

We've banned atheists for doing exactly what you're doing. You can't give a single example of this double standard you're asserting, but as usual you're happy to go on saying things with no evidence, so long as it allows you to continue making slimy assertions.

Quote:So, either I defend my faith my way, or you can ban me and go back to telling yourselves that you really showed another Christian what for.

I'm happy either way

So you basically think that your religious views allow you to dictate to us what the rules are in our own forum, and if we don't bend the rules whenever you break them while mentioning Jesus, we just hate you and your god.

Where the fuck do you get off? Dodgy

My posts are annoying because you are convicted by the Word of God.

You will use your "rules" to silence me - I've been expecting that - but everyone can see through your actions, becca.

Isn't it ironic that you (ab)use your authority in this forum to shut me up while atheists like yourself are constantly screaming that the Catholic Church was guilty of doing the same thing to pagans and non-Catholics in the early Church?

So, how is your censorship of me any different from the alleged abuses of the Catholic Church which you hate?

That is possible.

Alternatively, it is possible that you are living in darkness and cannot see what I see.

This forum perpetuates that.
