I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

I said no, not because I think Flanders would be too obnoxious, but because it would mean I have to have a neighbor. I've got a huge property, my closest neighbor is more than a half-mile away and I want to keep it that way.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

I vote no as well. He's a nice friendly guy, but all that saccharine sweetness is clearly holding in a lot of repressed tension. It's got to come out in some way, and when that puppy blows it's a doozy, as some episodes have shown. Not too sure I'd want a front-page national headline for a neighbour.
