welcome matey...
What's the bet that your definition of "evidence" will be "non" conforming.
To the contrary, evolution has been proven to work without a "god". Morals existed when we were walking on all fours, countless fossils found in the ground prove the earth isn't 6000 years old, etc.

I gotta feeling you will start preaching eventually ...please know ... there's nothing you're going to tell us that isn't already here ...just search the forum.
catch...

I am God. There's no evidence that I'm not, therefore I must be.

Correct. But I guess you wouldn't believe in Bigfoot, fairies and trolls under the bridge just because there's no evidence of them not existing. And then there are all the other gods, the ones that still are and the ones that have been. You don't believe in them either.

Truth is, you put all your stock on a specific god of a specific denomination. Probably because you grew up with that concept.

RE: My Inquiry
First off Welcome!

I have found in my life that when I believed in god I:
1. worried I was doing things right
2. worried satan was attacking me
3. worried why god wouldn't help me

Now I:

1. Take responsibility for my life
2. Don't worry that a god of love is punishing me all the time

Life is so much better when you look at the facts and accept responsibility for EVERYTHING in life.  That is my proof.  I have lived both ways and can tell you that life under god (when examined with a critical eye) sucks.  Get out now while you still can  Big Grin

On the issue of burden of proof and evidence for nonexistence, consider this:

You find yourself in the dock, accused of murder. Now prove your innocence.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

This is really simple, open your bible to any page in which you find god.  Now, keep that page open, get some water, some chips, some jerky....this might take awhile.  Keep your eyes on that page, don't blink (maybe set up a webcam).   The minute you see god lift himself off that page and flit around in the air in front of you...report back to us.....but no sooner.

Remember, this is for science, it takes dedication.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Well, I for one know of some sick bastard that sits around all day just relaxing and gardening. The nerve! Tongue

Welcome to the OP. I really second Panda's advice about reading the subforums. If you give that a good try, and you are earnest in your goal here (i.e. to learn what our positions are and not to preach) then you will find a lot of good info there. If you have some new idea (I promise you don't Big Grin) then make a thread about that.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I'm currently looking for any evidence I can find that God does/does not exist (I'm a Christian), so it would be awesome if you guys would post your best rebuttals against the existence of God here for me to look at. I realize that sometimes I only see one side of an argument so I would like to put this out to you guys so I can see this argument over the existence of God from both sides. Thanks!

A better question might be to turn this around and ask yourself, how can I prove the existence of God? What concrete proof do I have that I can show others he/she exists?

You might find it rather difficult to prove God's existence and therein should be your proof for non-existence... The lack of any evidence.

fyi, personal feelings/relationships don't count... Neither does the bible.. thats the claim that he exists... not proof...

anyway, happy hunting and hope you find the answer(s) you are looking for...
