Why don't we have a National Dance Naked Around a Bonfire Under a Full Moon and Sacrifice a Goat Day?
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems? I would say that their name has something to do with that. It's difficult to convince people that the separation of church and state is for the good of all, when the very name of your organisation has an 'anti-religion' feel to it.
Some of their actions didn't help much either (like the sign on the winter solstice).
