Windows 8 update: Touchscreen mode without touchscreen

I've got this really weird thing going on with my PC the past few days, I have to keep system restoring my PC back a few days because it keeps trying to install a buggy update. My PC has no touch screen capacities but this update is making my PC think it does and my mouse cursor keeps vanishing from sight. I can still click things but I can't see it. I know its on touchscreen mode because there's a small keypad symbol on my toolbar.
Does anyone have a clue what I might have going on here or how I can keep my PC from updating to stop this? I'm hopeless with anything beyond Microsoft office really. Thanks.

I can't load an update, forget which one it is, but just trying to do it messes up my laptop. I think we are seeing signs of bigger craptacular fubars to come.

Just go into the windows update settings and stop it from installing updates automatically.
Hopefully in a few days, there'll be a fix for it ...You'll need to check on the net for resolution.

My Droid RazrM is screwed up too. It's an 'early' production model and the software update a year ago was an unhappy experience. A subsequent 'patch' made it worse. Verizon is happy to get me a new phone. I get caught up a little, I'll do it. Considering Apple 5S . .

Thanks, hadn't any idea where to poke around. Hopefully that keeps it down for now!
Never, ever let Windows install updates for you without reviewing them. It's a good way to get bad things on your computer.
