I would like to see a feature on the shoutbox similar to msn for example that shows us when someone is writing a message. That way I can wait for the response before I jump in with something else..

E.g. Darwinian is writing a message..

A fantasy based cooperative writing site that I helped write (content, not code) uses an open source Shoutbox/Chat that is the best I've ever seen. It lists the members currently in the chat, whether they are using the shoutbox or actually present in the chat room. It easily floats free from the forum page and becomes an IM style chat room that allows you to continue moving about the site. I really think you guys would like it. It is called Ajax Chat.
