That's not a terrible idea (bacon grease).
Kitty and I took a short cooking class from a Mexican chef last year - one of the dishes that was covered was guacamole. Funny thing, the chef makes it exactly like I've been making it for years, although I don't own a molcajete and have to improvise. 
Not a terrible idea? It's the best idea.
