Don't ever question. Just believe.

It's that questions against the faith are the path to becoming an enemy.  Why don't you want to believe?  Don't you want to be like the rest of us?  See how happy everyone else is?  You must not really want to find god.  Pray harder, seek harder.  Keep reading the bible.  Failure indicates a closed heart.  Why are you like that?  etc.

It's like I've always said: christian apologetics, where it concerns people, can be boiled down to a single sentence. "If you don't agree with me, there's something wrong with you."

I didn't notice anyone on that forum saying this was bad advice. Must be incredibly uplifting to be the one with the 'good answers' eh Randy?

This is mental abuse, whether from a forum or straight from the mouth. However you dress it up, it stinks and it's going on in millions of homes right now. You're just another victim Randy which is why you think you know the answer.

So, from these two posts (and the fact that you even began the thread), I think it is fair to assume that you think the advice being given is bad. I agree.

As for me being a "victim", why do you believe that to be true? Is it because ALL Christians are victims in your opinion?

Because you, along with billions of muslims, hindus, jews, and the thousands of other religions have been infected by one or other strain of the religion virus. You should be thankful though as you can only be infected by one strain at a time, if another type enters your body the old virus will disappear instantly.

Infection is usually passed to the victim from their parents at a very early age, while adults can accept a virus later in life when their bodily defences are weak.

Since when did Christianity own a patent on self centeredness? Religion in all our species history, from volcano gods, to the Greeks and Roman polytheism, did the same thing along with Hebrew and Islam. Our species loves inventing comic book explanations. It is much easier and falsely gives us a comic book sense of immortality.

Apologetics is simply creating comic book excuses for things you don't understand. That applies to ALL religions in our species history.

I hope that is not sarcasm, that literally is a display of evolution. I am not kidding. Our species ability to cooperate stems from prior evolution, primates and mammals cooperating. We stupidly see the video as merely being cute, but in a very real evolutionary context, THAT video is a literal demonstration of evolution.

We also see other species cooperation, ever see a long fish hovering around a shark? The fish cleans the shark and the shark evolved to accept the cleaning. Some birds  and prey in Africa communicate and watch each other and warn of predators like lions.

Inner species cooperation is part of evolution. In a very real sense.

There's a large mix of various animals sharing the same environment in Africa.  When one sees a group of lions or other predators on the prowl for dinner it tends to get all excited and starts to make a lot of noise.  The other animals see that commotion and take other to save their own hides.  It might seem like a real mutual aid society but water buffalo wont come to the aid of a zebra colt.  They will come to the aid  of their own calf.

Yea, and no kidding. The problem with religion is that it takes our evolutionary behavior and turns it into Superman vs Lex Luther. Maybe if our species did a little bit less superstition and more thinking we could manage our differences better.

Mutual aid to society? AGAIN, in what context, you just gave it away. Mutual is local, but comes at the cost of our species understanding that we are NOT doing anything differently, and that lack of understanding of evolutionary behavior, being replaces with bullshit claims, causes lots of human division. Good for the group does not mean good for the long term survival of the entire species.

RE: Don't ever question. Just believe.
The glaring problem with this is that it's an instruction to not question and just believe Christianity, but to question everything else. In other words; believe what I tell you to believe and ignore anyone who might contradict me.
