Not as far as I could tell while the kids were in elementary school. Instead they spent a lovely unit learning the average height and weight of Emperor Penguins and other assorted facts. They learned nothing of method at school and not much science knowledge either. Middle school was much better.

I think it would be interesting to have a type of basic philosophy/seminar class. Less of a class where you study to pass a test but one in which students discuss any and all ideas and learn to think critically. It could even have some kind of formal debate every other week. I think it would get students interested in learning and discussing ideas. Also, it would teach kids to start questioning each other. Instead of accepting a dogma, they would actually have to discuss, do research, and think for themselves.
