That's good to hear.

Are the schools in district 24J not teaching real science at grade school level any longer?

Crumb: Indeed, perceived hypocrisy is a valid criticism. But like you say, people mistake that for a rebuttal. And simply pointing out the hypocrisy makes you a hypocrite too!

Most of the time, especially on this forum, the claim of hypocrisy is not even slightly valid anyway. It's just wild allegations based on ignorance, to try and get out of a corner. By all means address the hypocrisy afterwards, but address the actual point first Smile That's where the mental training comes in.

Not as far as I could tell while the kids were in elementary school.  Instead they spent a lovely unit learning the average height and weight of Emperor Penguins and other assorted facts.  They learned nothing of method at school and not much science knowledge either.  Middle school was much better.

I think it would be interesting to have a type of basic philosophy/seminar class. Less of a class where you study to pass a test but one in which students discuss any and all ideas and learn to think critically. It could even have some kind of formal debate every other week. I think it would get students interested in learning and discussing ideas. Also, it would teach kids to start questioning each other. Instead of accepting a dogma, they would actually have to discuss, do research, and think for themselves.
