I like the word "clusterfuck". But if I use it too much, I'll use it in front of my parents at some dinner party. And even at 39, that's a tongue lashin'!

S. Pinker claims in one of his talks that certain English swear words get culturally hard-wired in some native speakers to a visceral reaction which bypasses the rational processing of the word. This is his explanatiin, I think, why people demand that one not use them (because one burdens the listener with/manipulates them into an unsolicited emotional reaction). Fuck that Smile

What if you go one further and say something like Joe Tango, implying that it is a substitute for Charlie Foxtrott? A bit like Cockney rhyming slang.

I've sworn a lot since I was a little kid. I had an older nieghbor back then that taught me all of the great words, and I never looked back.

I know it's a bit sadistic, but I like to poke at people's unreasonable sensibilities with curse words. It's not my fault people are too uptight. I'm still going to use the words I like to use, but the key is moderation.
