Hi and Welcome.
Seeing as you are unsure, you are welcome to join my religion of not-sure-ism , it's a big religion and currently has about one member, but we are looking to expand. Benefits include, mandatory friday night parties, not having to argue about your beliefs, and salvation of your non-existent soul as per any and all existing rival belief systems. Quote:To know yet to think that one does not know is best; Not to know yet to think that one knows will lead to difficulty. Join me on atheistforums Slack (pester tibs via pm if you need invite)
Hello and welcome Vixene! Med student, eh? We'll have stuff to talk about then (I study medical biotechnology)
PS: do use the mobile site if you can. It's awesome and it lets you change your age... Plus, you can give kudos and rep! How cool is that?
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.
Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped. Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses. Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder. Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."
It's sounds like you're an atheist, and not a deist. I don't believe in a god either, but I am open to the possibility of a "force" out there somewhere, although, it's highly unlikely IMO. Welcome
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-
I tend to like deists. You're wrong of course, but so charmingly wrong.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Welcome I'd say I feel exactly the same way tbh (August 8, 2015 at 4:17 pm)vixene Wrote: Hi I'm Vixene, 20 years old and apparently a weak atheist/deist. I don't believe in a God, but think there is a slight possibility that a higher being exists, who is not involved whatsoever with whatever we do. Been this way for about 4 years but still pretending to be a Christian at home until I move out completely. You're obviously an agnostic atheist. Many of us are. On a side note, why do you have to pretend at home? It seems unusual for a UK environment. (August 8, 2015 at 6:25 pm)abaris Wrote:Oh my mum is African and she's a diehard pentecostal christian. Nothing remotely British about that but yeah we do have a growing atheist population and even the christians are wishy washy christians.(August 8, 2015 at 4:17 pm)vixene Wrote: Hi I'm Vixene, 20 years old and apparently a weak atheist/deist.
