Are you a quitter(do you find yourself constantly trying to quit and then you go and take it up again)?

Answer whatever you like.
What? Mainly Marlboro Light, approximately a pack a day.
When? Started at 13. Age 57 now.
How? Put one in my mouth, applied flame, sucked.
Access? Smoke vending machines everywhere.
Why? To be cool and the first one on my block to take it up. All the cool icons of the day smoked.
Regret? Yes.
Quit? Each pack is my last pack.

RE: Smokers
Come to think of it, I had my first fag at 8 when holidaying at my grandfather's relatives. There were a lot of kids and we locked ourself into some dark shed (it was a farm) and everyone lit up. I still remember the brand. But the warning wasn't on the pack back in 1971.

Had my first beer right there and then too.

Well, I took my first drag when I was not much older than 4 years old, if I remember correctly. I was out with the nanny, and she called her friends and they all decided it would be funny if the little kid smoked. We were in a park at the moment. Not sure how come she had so much freedom with me -- I suspected my dad shagged her.

I had my first beer with friends when playing running games with them, also in the park, we must've been in second grade or so.

Second grade must've been when I was 9-10 years old.

Oh, sorry, I'm nineteen. So somewhere around 2004-2005.

That late! Amazing, given the restrictive environment some ten years ago.

Living in my country is kind of like living in the past, so yeah.

Well we were able to get beer from a local vendor woman who obviously knew how old we were but didn't mind selling to us and thought us trustworthy enough not to go cry to the cops.

Cigarettes were more of a problem for me, later on. That must be why I unconsciously took up the habit of not shaving myself for periods at a time, so I could look older and buy the damn ciggies.

RE: Smokers
I smoke both regular and rollies - I distinguish between both because the latter are really popular in Europe - When it comes to regular cigarettes I have smoked Lucky Strike, Marlboro Red, Camel (the normal yellow pack) and Winston Red - I also smoked a lot of Chesterfield Red when I was low on budget because those were the least expensive cigarettes (basically the poor person's cigs while Marlboro is the most expensive) - I also smoked some Portuguese brands. For rollies I prefer Amber Leaf and Drum (dark blue package) as well as Amsterdamer

In Portugal you can still smoke on the street and there's lots of public spaces like bars etc where you can smoke. In fact, in my city you can smoke in pretty much any disco or nightclub and most bars, even if the law says otherwise. I live in an urban area, keep in mind that in rural areas things are done old school so people still smoke everywhere they please and no one cares

RE: Smokers
I smoke 3-4 a day; one in the morning, one when I finish work, one just before bed and maybe another cheeky fag during the evening, depending on mood.

Sovereign. They're cheap.

Quote:When and how did you start?
In the womb. Both my parents were smokers as were uncles, aunts, parents friends... It's not like I started smoking, I just started buying my own fags when I looked old enough.

Quote:Do you regret it?
No. I might if I suffer serious health issues but I tend not to regret my choices, in general.

Quote:Are you a quitter(do you find yourself constantly trying to quit and then you go and take it up again)?
Nope. I've minimised my smoking to reduce the impacts to my health but I enjoy it.
Sum ergo sum

Don't know where you're from, but here in Austria cigarettes and booze are legal, once you're 16. Nowadays that's also the voting age. But that's a rather new development.
