Quote:"Whoever marries, must respect his wife" I don't need a bronze age mythology to tell me that, thanks. They absolutely recognise them when they see them, they just make a conscious/unconscious decision to forget about them and pretend like they don't exist. That's the essence of cherry picking, I believe. But some of the theists on this board don't even gloss over them, they just assume it can't be *that* bad because why would it be in the bible (or whatever) if it was? It's all part of the greater good, so even the bad bits are good.
This is the same kind of game Hamza Tzortis likes to play (except here, truthful comments cannot be blocked like on YouTube):

Instead of pretending like they don't exist outright they might choose to rationalise by saying to themselves "it's not that bad". It all falls under cognitive dissonance in the end. In addition, the Prophet (SA) of Allah stated:'Whoever insults his family, would lose happiness in his life'. Out of interest Mystic, is there anything in your life that isn't co-ordinated or driven by the Quran or Allah? Are you able to talk about anything without a reference to your book? I'm asking this quite seriously. |
