Tax Exempt John Oliver

RE: Tax Exempt John Oliver
That was at the same time the funniest and the most infuriating thing I've seen in a long, long while.

I love John Oliver. He is becoming the political force that Jon Stewart couldn't be, because he's on HBO. I can't get enough of that show.

I want Jon on Saturdays. Bill on Friday, Jon on Saturday, John on Sunday. A weekend trifecta.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Well, let us all start a church and go tax exempt. Get enough people and organizations doing that and I will bet that it will not be long before the government would start having second thoughts on allowing god people to not pay taxes and clamp down on that bullshit. They would be forced into all or none. They would not be allowed to differentiate between religions.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

If these stoners can do it, anybody should be able to. I like the "Deity Dozen".

And of course;

RE: Tax Exempt John Oliver
This is why I cringe when some of my friends regurgitate these assholes' propaganda on Facebook. If a pastor is offering salvation in return for a cash donation/'gift'/'seed', or for someone buying a DVD/book/trinket, they're simply in it for the money. I normally wouldn't care, but their BS actively hurts people.

I actually watched a couple of Creflo's 30 minute paid advertisements (let's call a spade a spade). It was amazing to see him say nothing beyond a couple of unoriginal platitudes towards Jesus (mostly of the "All (implied good) things through Jesus!" variety) while peddling his wares. I can almost applaud the audacity, but the whole thing was just revolting to watch. "I'll think for you, pat you on the head and call you a good boy or girl... if you pay me."
