Cheating website hacked and customer data released.

RE: Cheating website hacked and customer data released.
Ordinarily, I'd come down firmly against the hackers, and likely against the company that didn't secure their data.

Ordinarily, the customers who's data has been breached are innocent third parties.

Usually, its clear who the scumbags are - in this case, all of the parties involved are scumbags and I have no sympathy for the lot of them. I'm not going to kid myself and think that there was anything ethical about the data breach - there isn't - I just can't muster up any sympathy.

Maybe the person feels like they're trapped in a relationship with someone they don't love due to cultural or social pressures, yet need some release elsewhere. Maybe they got unwantonly tempted being placed in the wrong position at the wrong time. Maybe they thought initially they were monogamous in attitude, realized eventually they were not, but are too afraid to speak about it to the spouse, so they do it in private. Nobody knows the reasons exactly for every individual case.

Oh yeah, I agree. Those reasons are all super cowardly though. I think cowardice is way more a factor than maliciousness.

It may be cowardice, it may be considering that being honest with the other person might hurt their feelings.

You people seem to be maniacal about hurt feelings. Feelings don't matter. Grow up. People's lives were actually destroyed, and no, it's not because the persons cheated, it's because these hackers publicised these peoples' private affairs. In Canada, it's not illegal to cheat. Therefore a person's private decisions about his sex life are his own damn business and you should be ashamed that you think otherwise. Their spouses "feelings" definitely do not matter in this context, not by any stretch. We might consider their feelings in a completely different, more hypothetical in nature discussion, but not in this one. I'm quite shocked, really.

I think that's probably true. I mean obviously there are a myriad of reasons why people cheat. I think many people say 'Well just break up with the person you are with instead of cheat.' The reality is far more complex, that people often times still have feelings for the first person but are incomplete or simply not sexually satisfied. I do think cheaters maybe are trying to protect the feelings of their spouse. However for me, that just amplifies their cowardice. What's going to hurt their feelings more? Telling them that you aren't happy with the relationship you are in, or screwing around behind their back. Also, one way or another you are probably going to get found out anyway.

You have no reason to call it cowardice other than your own preconceptions about people. And I still claim you're possibly being biased since bias doesn't necessarily mean you're the one who's been cheated on. What's even to be cowardly about?

No, they're more likely not going to be found out anyway. You're making a lot of unsupported claims.

Unsupported? How exactly is anything in this conversation supposed to be supported? And by what? See, this is what I mean by you sounding like a confrontational ass who is just out to disagree with people and stir shit. I'm sure as you get older you'll grow out of it though.

How? By being logically sound and making out good arguments, taking into considerations any errors in judgements that are being pointed out. By what?By evidence and facts.

You can call me a confrontational ass if you like. That won't change the fact that you're being irrational about this.

And stop being so condesceding. You might not like if I take your personality apart in a far more accurate manner.

I won't care at all. You are a 19 year old who is trying to talk about something you know nothing about. I'm Captain Awesome. I'm a good looking narcissist who is one of the most amazing people to have ever lived. I could care less what you think. I can just close my computer to go have sex with my girlfriend, an option that you don't have.

Do I even have to point out how he outed himself as a major dumbass with this post? I'm not that malevolent though. Actually I feel a little compassionate towards him, even though it seems it always comes back to bite me when I feel that way towards apparently undeserving people.

I'm not an unreasonable person. I do not seek to start flame wars or heated debates about everything. This is only an impression I give out to certain types of people. It doesn't mean it describes me all that well. You shouldn't underestimate my own self-awareness or intelect either, based merely on my age or other mysterious non-mentioned factors. Also, I don't subscribe to the view that just because everyone says there's something wrong with the way I act that there genuinely is. A lot of the time, when evaluating individual attitudes and actions one fails to take in context - the larger picture, that is.

I think you're just rationalizing your own narcissistic attitude and uncontrollable desire to insult other people. I also think you're verbally abusive because it helps you cope with your insecurites.

But what do I know? According to you, I'm lacking in the grey matter department.
