Well, you know, its like having your own theist to play with. Also as they are a friend and not some unknown person on a forum you can generally keep things civil and have a good discussion. Also, nobody can delete your "posts" or "lock the thread".

Well, I do have a friend (although, considering the fact that, in the flesh world, I am a loner, my definition of friend may be looser than many others), who is actually the head of the Campus Crusade for Christ, but, surprisingly, we've managed to keep religion out of our conversations. The closest thing I remember is that she saw me reading a copy of Dr. LaVey's "The Satanic Bible" (Rye's verdict, the first third [read: the first two "books"] is great if only for its style and philosophy, very Nietzsche meets Blake, and everything after it is worthless), and she simply asked "Really? I never thought you'd go into that kind of thing," and, perhaps obliquely, my referring to Foucault's Pendulum as "The Da Vinci Code, except written by somebody who knew what she was talking about." And even when she was my calc teacher, I don't think she even mentioned her religion in class, which I suppose is a step up from using every single short story or poem you can find as a springboard for your conservative version of Catholicism, like some teachers at Notre Dame did.
