Anti gay-marriage atheist??
RE: Anti gay-marriage atheist??
I think my daughter always brings up a good point about gays going to hell:

"How the fuck am I going to hell for having sex with other girls to receive the same punishment as Hitler who killed six million people. That doesn't sound like a just god. In fact, just for not believing in god -- I'll be sent to hell, while if Hitler repented before he killed himself, he could wind up in heaven. How am I as bad as Hitler? Or Pol Pot? Just because I like girls, and don't believe in a god that would do that to me. It just doesn't make any sense,"

Is it necessary for anyone to go to hell? Is that really the best your god could come up with?

Have you ever considered how completely absurd (and offensive!) your words sound?

Just so that you are aware, I am not putting you on my ignore list, but I won't be reading/responding to your posts on this thread. I have engaged with you enough in the past to know that due to the hostile nature of your posts and your inability to keep straight what I actually say, you are not someone whom I wish to engage with in regards to matters of my faith.

Frankly, I take this as a compliment.

I guess I'll never find out what you think about the RCC spending millions of dollars to make SSM illegal though.

Your daughter has made a mistake in her thinking on this.  According to most forms of Christianity, if Hitler repented just before he committed suicide, he would still go to hell.  That is because suicide gets one hell, too, according to traditional Christianity.  But otherwise, her thinking seems good; yes, it is senseless that lesbian sex generally is supposed to deserve punishment.

It is a good thing that there is no god, and no heaven and no hell.

Depends on the branch of Christianity you're talking about.

The concept of hell is a scam. Why would god create a place of eternal torment to send not just the worst of the worst, but to give the same punishment to people who are otherwise decent people who don't believe in god, girls who like pussy, or guys who like cock, and people who wear garments of mixed fabrics, and people who eat pork.

The only way I can imagine God saying "Don't eat pork." Is if Satan ate his pork, and that was the reason that god kicked him out of heaven, and he wants all the pork for himself.

I like the idea more of just being sent back to non-existence tbh

I've heard some schools of thought describe Hell as a temporary place, where everyone will go after death to be "cleansed" before moving onto heaven. Obviously the amount of time you get in Hell depends on what you did. Seems somewhat less vile, not much less.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

We have that in Catholicism but we call it Purgatory. The permanent stuff is Hell.

But Hell doesn't really exist because eternal punishment would be unjust, right CL?

It's difficult to explain, but I believe Hell is more like a state of being rather than a physical place. The way one theologian described it was that a person who is in Hell is constantly in a state that is devoid of goodness. Their minds are constantly in opposition to love or anything that is good.

None of this is official doctrine, just opinion/speculation amongst some theologians. It makes sense to me though.
