Given that she's a government official, her disrespect for the Court's decisions and orders will be especially frowned-upon, but I also know that some contempt jailings are relieved  when the jailed agrees to abide the court's orders.

I fully expect it to be the latter.

Question is - how long before she tires of the greybar suites and gives in or resigns? (The latter, I think, is more likely)

Five of six deputy clerks in Rowan County, Kentucky, agreed Thursday to abide court orders and issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
The clerks told U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning at the federal courthouse in Ashland that they would issue the licenses after the judge ordered their boss, Rowan County clerk Kim Davis, to be jailed on contempt charges for defying multiple court orders.
Bunning told the six deputy clerks they could either issue marriage licenses or join Davis in jail.
The one deputy who refuse to comply was Davis’ 21-year-old son, Nathan. The judge said he wouldn’t hold Nathan in contempt.

I wonder how long it would take her to be removed from her position if she refused to do part of her job because of her sincerely held beliefs about the FSM.

Want to take a guess? Yeah. This crap is the favouritism towards "proper" religions, and general better treatment that I want to see gone. You can't have people simply refusing to do their fucking jobs for made up reasons.

While still holding office? What would that entail, she does her job from the jail? She still gets paid...?

I don't like this system. Everyone should be required to do their job or lose it, in my naive simplistic understanding of the world.

And on top of that, Fox News gets to paint her as a martyr. I knew when the judge summoned her to "explain why she should not be fined or jailed" that this was a set up.
