My empirically obtained rule of thumb for scheduling when writing publications and books:
If you think your project will be finished tomorrow, it will take another week. If you think it will be finished in two weeks, the actual time needed for completion is undetermined.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen anything in a movie use proper leverage physics, ever. Then again, I guess if it took several minutes to raise-lower a prop, it would eat up an inordinate amount of screen time unless they made it seem a little faster.
