godless parents are doing a better job

People in power, acting like they are gods.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

Raising godless children means they won't have a lot of junk to unlearn later when they decide to become atheists.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

I agree 100%. Not only that but much of whats in the bible is cryptic and hard to understand for ADULTS much less a child. Why on earth would i send him/her to school mon-fri to have them learn cold hard facts(hopefully) and then to church on sunday to only muddy the water with biblical non-sense? If said child wants to later in life go try to find or explain god in their own way, then by all means do it. I would just hope that he/she does it with an analytic, logical, adult mind versus the sponge-like mind of a child.

Or alternatively to a christian school. My sister and her husband decided the grade school they sent their kids to needed to incorporate religion into its course. It makes me feel bad, watching them do that and not really being able to do anything about it.

Awesome stuffs!

Teaching critical thinking and empathy is far better than "because some invisible guy says so".

Let's just hope that the current wave of hate religious people are displaying serves as a wake up call to society of the danger religion poses. The mindset we are seeing is the same one that drove the inquisition and the Salem witch hunts. It's not a thing of the past. If people think they're supposed to take the Bible seriously and put their god first, sooner or later they will hurt somebody in the name of god. Think I'm lying? Look at what they did to those abortion doctors.

As repeatedly iterated, it's about teaching people how to think and not what to think.

If I had children and they came to the conclusion that [a version of] god existed by their own investigation and their own thoughts, I'd still disagree but respect their decision (unless they could evidence it to my very low standard that is). This is much better than I or someone else telling them they *must* believe in X or Y, whether that be there is a god or that there isn't. It's not my remit, even as a parent, to tell my children they should and shouldn't believe, only how they can find the tools to decide for themselves.
