Believers don't believe

See, that's the point you're missing. Jesus was seen again. Paul explains over 500 witnessed seen Jesus after death.

Quote:There were both men, they were both believed to be gods, they both died and they both were never seen again.
Jesus was witnessed after death.

Quote:Funny how religions have some remarkable similarities.
Yes, I agree. It's funny how most religions claim a Messiah well after the Birth of Jesus.

Quote:So what's the differance? Both mortal, both non-god, both died and both never seen or heard of again because they both no longer exist. That's because death is just the ending of biological function and both these charactors are biological. They no longer exist as we will face one day.
Jesus was seen after death. Once these other so called gods (kings) died, they were forgotten about. After their death, everyone lost faith in them. After Jesus' death, people grew to believe in him even more.. because they witnessed his Ressurection.

Followers of Jesus were actually executed, tortured and sent to prison just for claiming they witnessed the Ressurected Christ.

Right, you've got the evidence right in those stories written decades after his death!

You ever heard of Horus, Psalm?

Atheists do their share of preaching, let me tell you.

Did you see the poster in the Congress building that was displayed right next to the Nativity scene? It says, "There is no God, no Angels, No Jesus, No Virgin mother, It's all a myth, and it's a mental disorder." Needless to say, A Christian stole the sign and dropped it off at a local radio station. And the owner of sign displayed, 'thou shalt not steal' on it.

So, this particular atheist seems to like displaying O.T verses. Shall I display the verses that say "It's acceptable by law to cut off the heads of atheists?" I wonder what this guy would say about that? I mean, afterall, he is displaying Bible verses...

Now, I gotta say, what atheist would want to display such vile filth next to the scene of Baby Jesus? If you don't think that is a disgrace, then you may be just as ignorant.

Atheists are doing more than enough to show the world God is imaginary. That is actually preaching, and then these same particular atheists will condemn Preachers for preaching, but in reality, these atheists are doing the same thing?

Quote:And in my case at least, why don't I believe? No evidence. No evidence should be a reason NOT to believe. Not a reason to believe strongly!
You don't "Believe" in God. Atheists demand evidence before they can believe in something, right? So, where did you receive the evidence that God does not exist? Or are you a non-believer by a leap of faith?

Yes I do, but I know the eyewitnesses from 33 A.D were NOT dead by the time the first Gospel was penned.

Quote:You ever heard of Horus, Psalm?
Horus, you mean "The Falcon?"

Did you know Horus was told by his mother, Isis, to protect the people of Egypt from Set the god of the desert, storms, and chaos.

How can Horus be a supernatural God if he has a mother? Wouldn't that mean his mother is a Goddess?

I would be frightened if Jehovah was created by another force..

Horus has been denied in my books. Another false mythology god.

I'd like that actually, since you'd be further proving his point that the OT is barbaric.

Actually, an interesting point. My answer to the question is that I don't technically believe/disbelieve in god, I just think that his existence is so very very unlikely that I might as well say I don't believe in him. On the flip side, a believer "believes" in god the same way I believe in my father. I think it is fair to say that the belief of a believer and the unbelief of an atheist, for the most part, are quite different except in name.

Quick point about Horus- I recommend to you a book by Tom Harpur, a christian, called "The Pagan Christ." Many interesting things that you will choose to discount because they disagree with you, but well researched and backed up nonetheless. I was not comparing Horus to Jehova, but to Jesus, and if you look into it you will find the many many similarities (around 180), which came FIRST with Horus. Further, the sun gods of Egypt, of which there are three, (Osiris, Ra, Horus) are all interchangeable.

Psalmy, the posting of the sign you talk about is fine by me. Did the posting break any law i.e. was the act of displaying it illegal? That's about the only complaint you can legitimately make. If it was illegal then presumably your christian comrade needn't have " sinned " by stealing it but rather have left it to the appropriate authority so to do.
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

No, he didn't break the law, but you must look at both sides. This guy will be the first one in line to stand against the, "God Hates Fags" organization. Why should this guy care? I mean, they are expressing their opinion. (Which by the way, I know it's disgusting and utter filth, but welcome to America.) That is their right.

In which, this particular atheist would have no right interfering in what they say. If he feels it's appropriate to display anti-religion next to a Bible scene, then it should be appropriate for someone to scream out, "God hates fags."

Both parties, atheist & Christian are always quick to yell "foul!" Atheism and Christianity are at each other's throats constantly!! Meanwhile, Islam is moving right on in and planning on cutting our heads off.

I think both Christians and Atheists better wise up, quick!

I've read the bible over 4 times.. and I never once saw a verse where Jesus Christ ordered anyone to die.

Jesus commands me to love even anti-religious people such as yourself.

Just imagine if the entire world actually followed Jesus' words.
It would be a much better place, that's for sure..

Psalmy, I believe passionately in free speech, however unpalatable some of that may be.
Trouble with many faith types is that they think we all should show some special respect for their views. It doesn't work like that.
