Even taking a generous estimate of something akin to humans being around for 4 or 5 million years, we've just clocked off 2 to 3 percent of the dinosaur age.
We're a chicken fart in earth's history. Some people just can't deal with that fact.
Yeah? Dinosaurs spent 150 million years stomping around the earth without ever managing to be directly responsible for causing any mass extinctions. In just 2 million we are bidding fair to cause a mass extinction as thorough as the one that did in the dinosaurs.
We may burn very short, but we burn very bright, and burn down the house in which we live while we are still living in it.
No other species has ever done that, and given higher life on earth may only have 200 million more years on earth, chances are no other species will.
