Nice when the evidence that human beings are - ultimately - just another group of organisms keeps piling up..  Nothing special, nothing unique (well, nothing that matters, anyroad),  Just another infinitesimal mucosal fleck on the great gob of Life.

Even taking a generous estimate of something akin to humans being around for 4 or 5 million years, we've just clocked off 2 to 3 percent of the dinosaur age.

We're a chicken fart in earth's history. Some people just can't deal with that fact.

Yeah?   Dinosaurs spent 150 million years stomping around the earth without ever managing to be directly responsible for causing any mass extinctions.    In just 2 million we are bidding fair to cause a mass extinction as thorough as the one that did in the dinosaurs.

We may burn very short, but we burn very bright, and burn down the house in which we live while we are still living in it.

No other species has ever done that, and given higher life on earth may only have 200 million more years on earth, chances are no other species will.

We are no chicken fart. We are the big shit.

It's all over the evening news in Austria and Germany. Largest human fossil discovery in Africa, according to the scientists. Especially, which is obviously a very rare event, since there are many specimen of the same bone of different individuals.

It makes me consider something:

Creationists deny Evolution, right?

It's bad enough to deny the hominid Evolution that occurred in the past,
for which there is ample evidence;

but I wonder how they plan to deny the Evolution that has yet to occur right in front of them,
since most experts agree that the human race is nowhere near finished evolving.

I have read various things over the years,
how the next distinct step of human evolution will probably be the "Homo Evolutis" or "Homo Novus",
and we already have our toe upon the threshold;
the distinguishing factor will be when humanity begins to routinely decide it's own genetic code;
and also factoring into it will be the mix of man and machine;
as robotics, electronics, computers, and medicine advance.

(already the early stages of it are evident, with artificial and computerized body parts being 3D printed).

It will all come together to create an engineered human that will mark the next stage
...or so they say.  I'm no expert, and it does scare me, but it is fascinating, as well.

I kind of hope that I'm dead before it goes through it's beta test, though;
partially because if it goes wrong, it may go REALLY wrong;

...and also because I don't like the idea of being considered an obsolete model, myself.

Anyway, it will be difficult to deny what's happening right under their noses.

Of course, they're denying Global Warming, too....nevermind.
