So what about piercings? I see lots of make-up hate here (and I'm on board with that), but everyone is ok with sticking needles in your body, and then hanging dangly sparkles off those bits? Of is there a fair amount of hate for that kind of long-term self mutilation as well?
It's weird to me. I do have my ears pierced (friend took me for my 17th birthday, I regret it to this day, and never wear earings, even though the holes are STILL OPEN). I got my belly button pierced when my douchebag of a first husband took advantage of a panic attack I had, wherein I was given like 3mg of ativan and was so doped up I probably could have been talked into thinking I could fly. He knew I hated piercings but took me straight from the emergency room to a piercing place in the mall. It got infected pretty quickly. Nurse told me the vast majority of BB piercings get infected and people end up taking them out. Not to mention nipples, clit, head of a guys penis, and so forth. Ick. Agh, And the tongue! UMG, I find that so repulsive. Oh yeah, I divorced that guy, but still have the stupid scar from the stupid piercing I never wanted.

The only make-up I'd ever consider wearing is eye-liner or mascara, but I don't think it would suit me. Some guys look amazing in that.
I think when you see guys putting on foundation, lipstick and all that good jazz, it just ends up going full-throttle in the direction of drag (which there's nothing wrong with, if you're going for it). I mean hey, if you want to wear it, beat that mug, just saying I wouldn't myself unless I was deliberately getting into drag.

At my age, quite frankly I don't even notice any more unless it's garish. Then I just point and giggle (hopefully unnoticed but not always).
Wife, eyebrow pencil and face powder. But that doesn't stop her from pulling out the powder case any time we get in the car to check herself and reapply. Got a definite lip/ vaseline addiction. More often than not I have to do the post kiss wipe.

Nothing's wrong with makeup, but I won't wear it. I suppose it might be different if I knew how to apply it for maximum allure, but I can't bring myself to be interested in it enough to bother.
Besides, I'm having to beat these motherfuckers off with a stick as it is. Just kidding! (not really) |
