At my age I hope that I don't start guiding the dreams into the toilet. I don't think I'd like the results.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

As I understand it, while you're in REM sleep - where lucid dreams take place - you're body is paralysed in some sense to stop you acting out your dreams, unless you sleepwalk or whatever. But I don't know much about that. (September 24, 2015 at 10:12 am)emjay Wrote:(September 24, 2015 at 9:57 am)mh.brewer Wrote: Nope. Just don't want to start peeing in the bed. For men, nocturnal emissions occur during REM, peeing not that much different.

You're pretty sure your dreaming but doesn't make that vivid twisted chasing you any less terrifying. I don't like dreams anymore.. Nightmares are the reason why I have lucid dreams. As a child, I had really terrifying dreams from which I wouldn't/couldn't awaken. As a defense mechanism, I learned to control them pretty quickly, I can tell you! It soon developed so that almost every dream that I remember is lucid. That's still true to this day.
Sum ergo sum
I've had lurid dreams. Unfortunately I've slept through most of them.

I've pretty much always had them, they started off as just lucid and a bit confusing. Then became lucid and bad, lucid then panic. Eventually got really good at controlling them and had a ton of fun. Like you say, all of them were lucid aside from the odd one or two. But a few years back I had a big bout of depression and started losing control of anything beyond myself in the dreams and getting lucid nightmares. Now I can't stand dreaming at all. Just constant bizarre dreams and lucid nightmares. RE: Lucid dreaming

I finally had my first lucid dream last night. I tried emjay's method of relentlessly repeating to myself, before falling asleep, ' I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming...'. It was a last resort kind of thing but it worked. So thanks so much =)).
I didn't do much though. I was really pshyched to be lucid dreaming and I was pretty relaxed and all but either I can't remember all of it or I didn't engage enough with it and I lost the lucidity. I guess I was a little too serious about it or something. I tried to fly a little, just so I could test it out and then I ran around rooftops a bit to figure out what to do next. That's where I can't remember anything about what happened next - maybe I just woke up. I do remember I had other episodes of dreaming last night where I wasn't lucid, though. It's crazy how real it feels. |
