3 Clinton police officers shot, one fatally, while responding to 911 call at wrong home

Henry County authorities said they received an open call for help at 9:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Grandriver Street. Investigators said dispatchers heard a woman screaming in the background.



The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the officers were then dispatched to a house not involved in that disturbance call. They are looking into why officers were dispatched to a second location.
When officers arrived at the house, investigators said the suspect, identified as James E. Waters, 37, of Clinton, began firing at them. The officers made their way into the home, trying to reach the woman they believed was in distress inside. All three officers were shot inside the home.

Waters is dead as well, they're awaiting autopsy results to see whether he shot himself or was hit and then bled out by one of the officers.  No word on whether or not anyone was sent to the actual location of the call or what became of the screaming woman in the background....though they did take a female into custody at the scene (unrelated) and charge her with possession and intent.

The explanation for the above, par for the course..was that Waters was a bad man™ anyway.

Funnily enough, this is usually the sort of thing that's put in stories to show what a messed up dystopia a town or city is. Getting assaulted for something as minor as jaywalking.

IKR?  They had to get swat in there to extract the officers and errything.

The scene is pitch perfect for tragic comedy , though. Three men assaulting a house under cover of darkness to save the damsel in distress- but the only lady in the place is hiding in the pantry with her little bag of meth while her bo turns the living room into a killing floor (because ofc he did..murrica!).
