The borough president for Brooklyn criticized New York City undercover police detectives after footage surfaced of them accosting and handcuffing a US Postal Service worker while he was on duty, reported.

“If they would do that to him in his postal uniform, they would do it to any person of color in that community,” said Eric Adams concerning the officers’ encounter with Glenn Grays in Crown Heights last week.

Graphic video debunks Fresno cops’ account in fatal shooting of unarmed mentally-ill man

The footage, taken from the officers’ body cameras, shows them approach Centeno and yell, “Get on the ground” for three seconds before opening fire from about 15 feet away. The officers shot nine times at Centeno, seven of which connected. Centeno is seen falling to the ground, at which point the officers order him to put his hands up.

The object, which police believed to be a gun, was in fact a garden hose nozzle.

“Fearing that Petrov was going to assault Deputy Wieber, I removed my collapsible baton,” Santamaria wrote in his report, which was only released following a public records request by the Center for Human Rights and Privacy. “I struck Petrov several times on his upper left arm to gain his compliance.”
However, footage released on Thursday does not show Petrov actively resisting; instead, he is seen at various points trying to move away from the beating, or kneeling with his hands over his head. In each instance, however, the deputies continue hitting him as backup arrives. At least one deputy can also be seen kicking Petrov as he lies prone on the ground.
The surveillance footage is the only record of the incident because none of the 11 deputies present for Petrov’s arrest had their body cameras turned on.

In the video, Faulkenberry can be seen with his hands up the entire time as the three officers surround him, with one suddenly leg-whipping him, driving him to the ground where all three can be seen piling on him.

According to the police report filed by Deputy Michael Taylor, “I observed Lawrence Faulkenberry push Sergeant Yost with the left side of his body and elbow into a tree causing him to fall and injure his left shin and right knee cap. I observed Lawrence Faulkenberry to forcefully resist Deputies while attempting to lawfully detain him for officer safety. Deputies detained Lawrence Faulkenberry using the least amount of force necessary to gain compliance from Lawrence Faulkenberry.”

The video showed nothing of the sort happened.
