NYPD gets sued after kicking wrong family out of home

The New York Police Department got an order kicking a family of four out of their Queens apartment by telling a judge it was a drug den — but the dealers had moved out seven months earlier.

A lawsuit to be filed in Brooklyn Federal Court on Tuesday details an egregious case of the NYPD’s use of the nuisance abatement law — a controversial tool in which cops are able to get a temporary order barring people from their homes without first giving them the opportunity to appear before a judge.

Convicted Detroit area cop can serve at boot camp for beating black motorist: court

Once again, the courts are a big part of the problem.

Dent said he suffered memory loss and other damage from the beating. He testified at the trial that he had feared for his life and had begged for Melendez to stop. Last year, he reached a $1.4 million settlement in a civil lawsuit against the city of Inkster, which has a majority black population but a majority white police force.

NYPD lieutenant who oversaw postal worker’s rough arrest stripped of badge and gun

Earlier this week, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said he had “strong concerns” about the officers’ actions.
Machado and his team — Police Officers Lazo Lluka, Miguel Rodriguez and David Savella — were immediately pulled from the elite conditions unit they were assigned to, Bratton said.
“I am very interested in the charge that was made against this individual, what he was arrested for and the validity of that,” Bratton said Tuesday. “Based on what I witnessed on the various videos I've reviewed I have strong concerns about the charge against that individual."

And, of course....

On Wednesday Patrick Lynch, head of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, cautioned against a “rush to judgment.”

“Everyone, including the police commissioner, should withhold public comment until all the facts are in,” Lynch said.

And how long might that take, asshole?  6 or 7 years?
