Oregon Shooting - Guess why?

Well, according to that link, he's a Muslim because one of his two "connections" on his MySpace page is a Muslim. That's what makes the internet great. Anybody can make the littlest conjecture based on minimal evidence and report it as news. It can spread like wildfire from there.

This is one of those things where it's best to wait until the dust settles before we start trying to figure out what this guy's motivations were.

Guess what was the question he asked his victims before killing them. You have guessed: it was "What is your religion?"
Hours after the incident, a lot of people gathered last night to pray for the victims.
An so on goes the madness...

“Others had been injured and then this man had enough time – I don’t know how much time elapsed – he was able to stand there and start asking people one by one what their religion was.

“‘Are you a Christian?’ he would ask them, and ‘if you are a Christian then stand up’ and they would stand up. He’d say ‘because you are a Christian you’re going to see God in about one second’ and then he shot and killed them. And he kept going down the line doing this to people."
Maybe he was an autistic sjw? Idk. I don't like Oregon anyway.

Umm, excuse me??

It's ok for people to be murdered in a state you don't like? Wtf?

Smelling a troll.

Pretty Christian of you there. LOL

Today is a sad day for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and each of us here should be more concerned for them than any argument we perceive to be the cause, each of us should find in our own ways to take a little time and keep these people at heart, they are suffering greater than any of us as far as I know.

GC

But that's the thing, when this kind of thing happens over and over again and we do nothing to fix the problem, the lone maniac is not the only one responsible.

Yes religion kills, but in this instance I don't think religion is responsible, and nor is the weapon, though the ease of weapon availability could be a big contributor to such instances. However the root of the problem might be a bit deeper than that.

lol No, not at all. Maybe he had a mental illness or some grudges? I've noticed some violent behavior from feminists in my school so that autistic sjw part was a joke.

MySpace?  Was he a time traveler, too?

No guns, 99% less gun related deaths deaths ... just ask Britain and Aus.

But we do realise this is a cultural thing, (like indoctrination). ...Therefore logic doesn't apply in an argument...

You do realize we have tons of illegal guns and a massive black market flooded with them that the UK and AU doesn't right? They come up from across the border and then straight into the hands of criminal gangs who sell and distribute them outside the scope of the law and background checks. Gun trafficking is HUGE here and really easy for arms smugglers via the US/Mexico border (easy to smuggle them into Mexico from wherever and super easy to smuggle them into the US from there). What we need is legislation to help weed out the mentally ill and get them treatment (involuntarily if need be) and better means of keeping known violent criminals in check, since those are the 2 populations contributing to the majority of gun deaths (and the 2 populations most likely to purchase ILLEGAL guns if we ban them). We also need to crack down on the illegal arms trade.

You're right, it's stunningly unfair. Just cause two friends on social media are part of group associated with terrorism. Man, I should probably unfriend all my Muslim friends before I go on a serial killer rampage lol. The flimsy conclusions people make these days are just hell disturbing.

Your comment is exactly why I think this is an fear-mongering attempt by the media to attack pro-gun advocates. Haven't you heard of Ground-zero government gun control? There's a huge correlation between high-end gun control laws and government authority abuse. That murderer broke several gun control laws already. Adding a few more won't help. If the citizens loose the power to own guns, the government takes over the country in a totalitarian structure.

I don't think it is good to ever suppress expression of emotion, even hate. What is bad is when our species uses that emotion to justify violence . it is OK to hate, it is not OK to kill out of fear or ignorance. Taboos cannot be used to stop problem solving.

No another mentally ill person killed. Notice how many of these shooters have family/friends come out afterwards and say they were trying everything to get them mental help but couldn't? With all the "heated debate" going on about guns (and I do agree on tighter regulations), we are still missing a VERY important factor in this equation- the US is neglecting to provide ADEQUATE mental health care (which might include more involuntary institutionalizations) for DANGEROUS mentally ill people and has instead cut mental health spending or simply diverted funds to "everybody's a victim with a disorder" culture. While psychiatrists/psychologists are wasting all their time on overworked moms and stressed high schoolers, we're missing the portion of the population who is mentally ill and dangerous. Current laws also do not allow for the removal of these individuals from society to receive treatment on grounds of their human rights (neglecting to consider the rights of everyone around them).

(emphasis mine)

Statistically speaking, mentally ill people are no more likely to be dangerous than the average person. While I agree that we need better mental health care in our country, your laying the blame for these tragedies on mental illness is misguided and does nothing but further stigmatize the mentally ill.
