But as far as I understand the Bible, everyone is part of God's omnipotent plan. For example, the Army is part of God's potency for the defense of the county, and even your helping the poor is part of God's omnipotent plan in helping the poor. Do you get what I'm trying to say?

bambi, I certainly respect your right to your opinion, but I want to understand something.  Do you think the U.S. Army is part of God's plan?  What about those that the U.S. Army kills?  Do you think that only certain people are part of God's plan and not ALL people?

Not judging, just curious to hear your take on it.

I’m sure there’s a few people on here that know of my father already. He’s one of the main reasons I first came on here. I desperately needed to vent about religion, and have an escape. There was some sort of vicarious release that I had when I heard people freely talking about religion, because of the suffocating situation that I was in. He’s easily the biggest asshole of a theist that I’ve ever met.

I was heavily indoctrinated by one of the biggest assholes you could possibly imagine. It was his way or the highway. He never could do wrong, praying was more important than spending quality time with his family. The time he did spend was always ranting and raving about religion or politics. He always tried to start fights with everyone or pick on them for any little thing he could find, everyday. When I was growing up, every time I wanted to go out and play or do something, he always made sure I prayed a certain amount of time first, or prayed the rosary or whatever. I almost couldn’t even wake up and eat breakfast in the morning without him asking (demanding) me if I prayed. He’s one of the most negative, narcissistic, controlling people you’d ever meet. No matter what you do, it’s wrong. You’d try your whole life to please the man, but nothing would make him happy. No matter who you’d see or what you’re plans are, they’re always wrong. He’s the type that thinks the world is ending right around the corner, and that only catholics will be saved. He judges gay people like crazy, and thinks they’re making a choice to rebel against god. He thinks every muslim is evil, he loves FOX and thinks everything they say is truth (shocker). He thinks every democrat is a liar, and every republican is perfect. I could go on forever. Almost any negative trait you could possibly think of, would be attached to his character.

He is pretty much out of his fucking mind, but at the same time when he meets people outside of his house or outside of his family, he can be a nice person with a sense of humor. Just another reason, that he pisses me off so much. That he’s capable of being a good person, but chooses to be an absolute prick 99% of the time.

I’m glad I got away recently. I don’t need that shit in my life anymore.

Wow.  Look at all the responses saying that they've never met an asshole Theist IRL.  Wow.  Where do you guys live?  Can I move there and crash on your couch while I look for an apartment?  Wow.

I've met so many I'm having a hard time choosing between them.  Before I graduated from high school I had encountered two (Protestant, married with children) preachers who made a pass at me in their office.  (Thankfully there were people outside of the office each time, so a solid "stop!" and a threat of screaming got me out the door.)  We learned later that one of 'em had gotten nearly 1/2 of the 7th grade girls pregnant.  

There was the idiot minister who kept showing videos that "proved" the Devil recorded backwards messages in rock records.  Or the idiot minister who insisted that we pray using "thee and thou" and "sayest" and "giveth" because that was the way Jesus spoke.

Honorable mention goes to the guy handing out Bible tracts in the parking lot.  I removed the tract under my wiper blade, handed it back to him, and told him to use it on another car - "I'm an atheist".   As I was pulling out of the parking lot, he came running at my car and broke the windshield with a baseball bat, screaming something about how I was going to burn in hell.   

Oh yeah, those are just the first few to pop into my head.

It doesn't say, "describe every theist in general."

Another theist on here has done this recently because they can't seem to grasp the simple idea that the threads Damned Republicans, Damned Catholics, Fucking Cops, etc. aren't meant to describe every cop republican, or catholic. But, there sure is a hell of a lot of them acting like assholes, and we provide (mostly Min) evidence for those cases.

No one is accusing you of anything in their own personal stories.

A woman who goes to church with my husband's Aunt. I don't know her well (THANKFULLY!) but the woman is not all there, and she's a total bitch. She thinks that EVERYTHING is an Anti-Christian conspiracy. "They just want to make people not believe the bible. Scientists think THEY created the sun, but they didn't create the sun, God did!" She talks bad about anyone who does anything she remotely considers 'anti-christian' including:

Sorry for the late reply. Actually yes, I believe God uses everybody, including terrorists, to bring good in the midst of evil. Take Joseph's Brothers for instance. They threw Joseph in the well and God let him suffer so that at the end, he would become the Grand Vizor of Egypt and foretell of the famine and help out.

There is a verse in the Bible for what I'm saying. I don't remember the reference buy it goes like this: "you meant for evil, But God meant it for Good'. So whatever evil happens in the world, just like in my suicide, God uses it for the good of other people.

Ultimatelty, God has pre-ordained evey detail to eetablish the Global Utopia (The Millenia of Christ's Reign). And every bit of Good and evil will finally come together the in the great coming of Christ where he smashes down sin fer good.

So I want to know some real-life, non-online, experiences you've had with a theist asshole that was so negative that it blew your nut away?

For the most part, most theists I know are way more subdued in person than online (for those that I see both IRL and online). So, I might know some of them as assholes online, but in person, they're fine.

That being said, to answer the question: my maternal grandfather.

He's a theistic asshole in his holier-than-thou persona combined with his judgmental nature, but his full assholishness goes far deeper than that. Things the man has done in his life, that I know of:

• A friend of his told him he could have a tire to replace one. He showed up when the friend was gone, and stole four other tires that didn't fit any vehicle he had, as well as stealing a bunch of tools.
  
• Found a key left in a lock at a store. He used that key (or a copy?) to break into the store at night on numerous occasions. He only stopped after a close call of almost getting caught.
  
• Ended up getting custody of my younger sister from my mother. Lied to her and the courts about visitation dates to make it look like she wasn't interested in seeing her.
  
• Broke his son's nose.
  
• Slammed his daughter's head through a plaster wall.
  
• Hit his first wife in the back of the head with a bottle of vinegar and knocked her unconscious. He left her on the kitchen floor to wake up on her own.
  
• Raped his first wife, repeatedly.
  
• Punched his pregnant second wife in the stomach, repeatedly. When she could no longer hold her own weight, he leaned into her, pushing her up against a wall so that she wouldn't collapse while he continued. She later miscarried.
  

None of this directly has anything to do with him being Christian (that I know of), but he is a theist and the biggest asshole I know in person.
