Doesn't that make headlines in America? Hospital bombing in Kunduz

Doesn't that make headlines in America? Hospital bombing in Kunduz
So the US airforce bombed a doctors without borders hospital in Kunduz. They claim to have been under attack by Taliban from inside the hospital. Doctors without borders issued an unusally sharp response to that statement.

Quote:"MSF is disgusted by the recent statements coming from some Afghanistan government authorities justifying the attack on its hospital in Kunduz. These statements imply that Afghan and US forces working together decided to raze to the ground a fully functioning hospital – with more than 180 staff and patients inside – because they claim that members of the Taliban were present.

This amounts to an admission of a war crime. This utterly contradicts the initial attempts of the US government to minimise the attack as 'collateral damage'. There can be no justification for this abhorrent attack on our hospital that resulted in the deaths of MSF staff as they worked and patients as they lay in their beds.

Yeah, it's a pretty well known war crime to attack a hospital, or other medical facilities, isn't it? Even if it did have enemies inside, you can't just do that.

We like to call it "collateral damage."  Helps us sleep at night.

Shameful, and deserving of a prosecution that will not happen.

Of course it doesn't make the headlines in America. We all know by now, a white person has to die for it to be newsworthy.

'Murica for you.

It's disgusting. I hope whoever did it gets caught. Thoughts go out to the victims.

There you have yet another example of a neutral party trying to help people out and getting attacked.

And then the excuses start appearing.

I'm reminded of the peacekeepers in the Middle East who have been bombed by Israel

Yes, the withdrew with the hospital in shambles and their coworkers dead. Guess, it's mission accomplished.

This is most definitely a war crime, as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, it is. But war crimes are hardly tried these days. We've come a long way since jusice Jackson. Everyone takes a piss on his grave.

I'd wait until further investigation is done before declaring it a war crime. Whilst I admit it's looking more likely, we need to know whether the attacking forces were aware it was a hospital when they authorized the strike.

If they weren't aware, either because they didn't check, or were misinformed, then it's an accident. It shouldn't have happened either way.
