Yeah, so not the point. You consider it to be inerrant, unquetionably followed, and a holy physical object. You think that its words contain the essence and definition of your God(s). You worship according to its dictates, and you dare not question whether or not doing so makes you a cult member, or you will be "cursed".

No, because you only tentatively accept the math book as true so far as it can be demonstrated, and if I pointed out an error in it to you, you wouldn't ignore what I pointed out, you'd check for yourself and go, "Oh, wow, they did screw up! Neat-o."

Why do you do this? Because you know it's a book made by men, and is subject to human fallibility and error. You might even find a new mathematical proof that demonstrates that book is flat-out wrong, in places. And huzzah if you do!

That's what makes one book an idol to you, and not another.

I adore Charles Darwin's genius 1859 work On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, but it's not an idol to me because I am 100% honest about the things he got wrong, such as not knowing about the discovery by Gregor Mendel of genes and genetic inheritance patterns. I don't sit and try to make excuses for the errors, or pretend they're not there, or claim that the book must be inerrant or the whole idea must be thrown out. 

You, with your Bible, do all of those things to defend your book, which you cannot admit is even potentially error-filled, like every other book that has ever been crafted by the hand of man.

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

many of them are mistaken. If your gonna study a bible use the NIV or NAS translation. They are easier for modern readers to understand and have less errors.
