Yeah but I'd rather say something like "That's fucking stupid!" than "You fucking idiot!".
Best of both worlds then because I'm not even attacking them but I still get to attack their argument and swear. But yes I'd only even do that if I really felt like it.

As a kid I was raised with the idea that there are no obscene words. Words are just words. I always sort of detested the notion that intellectual phonies were dictating to me that certain words were beneath them. Excrement and shit are the same. I know there are times in which one is more appropriate over the other, but they are ultimately the same.

When I first started to study the Bible I tried to censor my language but quickly realized that that too, was phony Xian morality. The Bible uses language pretty much the same as I always have.

Dungy idols means idols of shit. Cake baked in the excrement of man. Shit. The Jews and early Christians had a play on words which referred to Satan as the lord of shit.

On the one hand there are always people who think that one must refstrain oneself, that it is condusive to civil discourse, and I think that it is important to at least try and be respectful of the rules and the small society or community of a board, but on the other hand one of the reasons I prefer discussions with atheists over Xians is that there isn't as much a restriction on how one expresses oneself.

I like swearing. If everyone didn't mind me swearing I'd swear all the time. Then I'd take a bit of a break when it lost its magic then I'd start again I'd just rather have proper arguments without having to get into a retarded one because of "swearing".
Its just a shame that there are so many people that object.
But if I swore all the time it would always be at the argument and not the person. Preferably. Its just a waste of time and ruins the conversation if you swear at the person rather than what the person is saying imo.

Yes. Thats not same as for instance, trying to make someone come to terms with their self. Its generally, at least for now, not a good idea for people to attack other people with their words IMO. Its far better to address the arguments that people make and the actions that they take.

Good point, and someone who is a great deal more civil than myself, like you CoxRox, are far less likely to be attacked on a sort of personal level.

Everyone has their own way of doing things. I respect your and EvF's very valid thoughts. I have been thinking that I should tone my own vulgarity down a bit. It does get old, like EvF said. I will try to do that in the future.

I may let loose once in a while, but try to be somewhat more. Civil.

I swear myself, too often probably, but on this stage I limit it to what I believe is appropriate.
